Jordan + Haley

When Jordan first contacted me to plan his surprise proposal for Haley, I knew this would be a special day. Jordan works out of state, so he wanted to take advantage of being home in the Smoky Mountains for Thanksgiving. He told me the plan was to do a family photoshoot and to also include his sweet dog, Staja, who is enjoying her last year of life. Jordan wanted both mountain backdrops and river scenery so that we could shoot family photos with mountain views and then move to the river side for “couple’s photos” that would actually be engagement photos.

The day of the long-planned shoot, the weather threatened rain. I chatted with Jordan about options for moving the shoot, and despite the fact that Haley was having hair and make-up done, he said the shoot had to happen on the chosen date. I loved when I saw the reason why! He had a special ring box made that included the proposal date. We watched the weather, and it turned out to be perfect.

Staja was definitely the star of the show! Jordan had a special bandana made for Staja. Haley was so surprised when she turned around to see Jordan on his knee and Staja asking a very important question.

After Haley said yes, we took some more family photos, and seeing how both families are already like one big family made my heart full. I love that Haley spends time with Jordan’s family even when he’s out of town.

But really, I just fell in love with Jordan and Haley and their obvious love and affection. So, my favorite part? The next day when they asked me to be their wedding photographer. Not gonna lie, I was hoping they would ask!
